Wow, I honestly can’t believe she’s a SENIOR this year!!!! 10 years ago when this little girl came into my life, I had no idea how lucky I was or how much I would treasure the time we have together. I wish I could push a pause button, or a slow motion button for the next year. I love you Sys! Look how beautiful you are!

I have been patiently waiting for this week! My youngest son, Hank, is a busy, busy boy that doesn’t sit still for more than a second or two. I recently attempted getting all 5 of our kids together for a nice picture. NOT ONE turned out because he couldn’t refrain from making a silly face. As he & I went through the pictures he was able to duplicate each and every face he made. So to honor the true Hank I had him make all of his faces while I snapped away!

I think we will soon discover that “Princess” may not be a strong enough term for this little girl. I believe she will actually be the Queen of her family! For Grammy & Poppy she’s the first Grandbaby (the others were 5 & up when they joined the family) and most importantly she’s the only Girl!! This Grammy & Poppy have raised 4 boys, which just adds a little sweetness to the arrival of this Princess.

Sweet, sweet princess

Next month it will have been 2 years since I started planning for this baby girl.

A little history~ My sister-in-law is the youngest of 4 and the only girl. She has 3 boys. You see where I’m going with this right?

2 summers ago she married a wonderful man, who loves her & the boys.

I knew it wouldn’t be long before their family would include a new baby, so I started making a pink baby blanket.

When I got the call saying “I’m pregnant!” I danced the happiest dance I know.

Finally I was able to give them the pink blanket I made just for the princess.

The princess arrived the end of August on her mommy’s birthday-the best present ever!

CoffeeShop has an amazingly easy to follow tutorial on making your own watermark brush which I used to make the new header.

Kevin & Amanda has hundreds of different fonts & doodles, it’s like a wonderland of fonts. The cute & funky flowers are part of the Pea Stacy’s Doodles.

I think it’s a toss up on what was the most fun during this shoot. Taking pictures of beautiful people, seeing my kids anxiously waiting for these kids to be done, so they could play or the fact that I got to hold the baby! It was so much fun!

Before & After Challenge

This week at I ♥ Faces Amy & Angie are taking a well deserved break. Rather than posting one picture or telling a story in pictures we get to post 2 pictures. One “before” is to be from our early days of editing pictures and the “after” is a recent picture edited during the month of August. The idea is to see how our photography & editing skills have improved.

So my before picture is of Miss V. it was taking right after she got her thick red locks chopped.

My after is of the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. They are counting down the days until the big Wedding.

This is a great week to participate at I ♥ Faces….everyone has at least one picture of someone making a funny face.

Although I have a lots of kids, and even more pictures, I knew several weeks ago when I took this picture it was the one for this week. I love this little girl…not only did I catch her making funny faces during our session, but she insisted that I take pictures of her on the trampoline, where I quickly learned that she was missing an important piece of clothing (undie ones, as they are called at our house). Not only is she cute as a button, she’s the funniest little 4 year old I know & I love that she gets to call me “Auntie Me-Mo!”

Week 30~My Story In Photos

This week at I ♥ Faces it is My Story In Photos: Summer Edition.
This is the story of our summer….

Our Summer began with our oldest son graduating from High School….way to go JD! The boys cheered Daddy on as he took part in the Prince of Wales Island Marathon. Great Job Daddy!!

The only reason we are anxious for summer to be over is our new baby Cousin, that we are SOOO excited to see, hold, love & kiss is due to be here the beginning of September.

One of the many perks of living on the water in Alaska…..Fresh Crab! Yummy! We’ve had amazing weather in SE Alaska. We’ve spent a few days at Sandy Beach, Alaska girls aren’t afraid of a little salt water. Miss V & I were able to spend time in Seattle with our family & dear friends. It was a week of relaxation, sun, family, friends & fun! Splash in Seattle We lost our Uncle JB after to long & tough battle against cancer….We will miss you!

We are very luck to live in a small community where the neighborhood kids can play outside all day. We know the summer is coming to a close when we celebrate the Birthday’s of our two youngest. They are now 3 & 4 both will be starting preschool in a few short weeks….but I really don’t want to talk or think about that.

I heart faces "at the Beach"

This week at I ♥ Faces the theme is "at the beach"
Many of you know that my family lives on an island in Alaska. Don't be confused by the word "island" it's not the warm tropical place that most people think of when they hear the word island. After 7 years on this island I was recently introduced to the one true sandy beach we have here.
This picture is my youngest son, running from the waves. I remember, like it was yesterday,, going to Ocean Shores with my family & running from the waves. I was probably a little older than my son, my memories of running & screaming with the huge waves chasing is etched in my mind. Seeing my son running & screaming from the "huge" waves just brings a smile to my face.

Real Sneak Peek

I've discovered that a few nights away from home is good for getting my picture editing done! At home this could have taken up to 3 weeks...I did mention I have two small boys, right?

I know I mentioned earlier that these pictures are of the bride & groom to-be and their two beautiful boys. But did I mention that we are preparing the groom for their big day & all the pictures he'll be posing for. I might have to take back a couple comments I made to him about showing affection, his love definitely shows in the pictures.

I should be sleeping....I have an early ferry to catch, I'm heading to town for a 3 day training. But I had too much fun today & couldn't wait to share a little peek of the Bride & Groom to-be & their adorable little men! I really think the boys could just be the cutest little guys on our island (and that's coming from a mom of 2 boys....okay it would probably be a tie lol!).

One of the great benefits of living in a small town is the feeling of being involved in all the activities that take place. We kicked off the weekend with kids fishing at the docks. Lots of fun & great prizes for the kids. Our kids got to hang out & play with their long lost cousins...I wish I could freeze time & let them play together all the time. The kids love watching the parade go through town, not only for the candy, but because they know people in the parade. And no 4th of July is complete without beautiful fireworks in the sky!

This is actually a post for I heart faces week 25 just for fun faces.
For those of you who know me, you already know this precious face…but as his mother I need to post this picture of his precious face-quiet, still, quiet, clean and did I say quiet.
The only way he can stay quiet, still and clean is in a picture.

We have recently potty trained this little man, our hope was that he would stop taking his clothes & diaper off to play with his man parts. Unfortunately we have really just given him easier access. He is now overly concerned that he is stinking up the bathroom with each visit & insists he spray air freshener every time. Febreeze stock will probably be one of the 1st stocks to bounce back from this recession thanks to this little guy.
When he’s not carrying around his baseball bat, sword or any other object that could be considered a weapon he is busy putting pencils into the pilot light of our toyo stove (the heat source of our home).
My husband politely refers to him as our pay back child. I just wish my husband had been a better kid since little man certainly doesn’t take after me-right mom? ;-)

The catch was that you couldn't use a tripod or anything to help hold the camera...this is one of those times when unusually long arms would have been helpful. :-)

The kids category had to include me and at least one child. My pick is one I took about a year ago, when my baby was still in my arms most of the time....now I can hardly get him to sit still let alone be on my lap.

It’s hard not to fall in love with these two little beauties, just look at them!

K-Sorry the sneak peek took longer than I expected, I really had a hard time deciding which 3 to post. I know I told you I pick my favorites, but this time I have too many "favorites" to post. I should have your full gallery up within the next day or 3.

Thank you so much for letting me capture these moments of your sweet little girls. You amaze me with your mothering abilities & words can’t describe how much I enjoyed seeing the girls light up when you were near them.

Project 365 Week 2

Project 365, week 2
Subject: toys

The kids had so much fun helping this week. I started with bike pictures that I thought would be my final pick for this week. Then I let each kid pick a toy for me to take some pictures of. As every parent knows you don't have a favorite kid...you love them all, maybe in different ways or for different reasons but you still love them all the same amount. With that in mind I couldn't pick a picture that had just one kid represented. 3 toys for 3 little kids.

Project 365 Hands

A friend of mine, who happens to also be a photographer, asked if I would like to participate in what some might call a challenge and others call a project. She was about to embark on Flickr’s Project 365. Each week, you are given a subject to photography daily and at the end of the week you pick one image to post on your blog.

Week 1: the subject has been HANDS

So always up for a challenge….I mean a new project, here is my week 1.
Hank was my inspiration, but Jack was the one who could pull through by standing still.

The Mustang Returns with her Mama

For starters I am sorry these have taken so long to get posted...I really do try & have them up within 5 days, however the last 4 days I've been fighting strep throat & a sinus infection. I got a helpful shot in the hind end & should be back to full force within a couple of days.

That said, here are a few sneak peeks of the studio session I had with the mustang girl & her mama. They were full of fun! It was hard to believe that the mustang girl is the youngest of 5 kids & the only girl...how's that for being a little spoiled! :-)

I know Thanksgiving hasn't come & gone...but I am 90% done with Christmas Shopping & I'm so ready to start the Christmas Season! I am sure it is the fact that I'm watching the snow fall as I type that is making it so hard for me to resist playing Christmas music & pulling out our decorations.

We had another beautiful day in Southeast Alaska...gotta take advantage of them before we are layered with long johns, hats, coats & scarves.
This darling young lady is one of the teachers aids in my little JD's preschool class. She's a senior who is lucky to get some hands on work experience in a field she is great at.
She is a self proclaimed Mustang Kinda Girl, that was super fun to work with.

Happy 75th Birthday!

This Mama turned 75 and received the best gift any mother could ask for....all of her children together. They hadn't all been together in years, 2 brothers flew to give her the biggest surprise of all.

I was honored to be a part of this reunion & capture some great shots.
They were so much fun...lots of love, laughter & jokes.

Lovin another JD

Mom was worried about little JD since he'd fallen asleep on the way to the photo shoot...but no worries we got plenty of really great shots.

His cheeks are the most kissable thing I have ever seen!
I wouldn't get much done around the house if we added this JD to the existing 3 in our house. I would spend my days hugging & loving him...but mostly just kissing those cheeks!

Grandma's Pictures

So most of you already know these are 3 of my kids & we live in Alaska.

I can remember being a kid, getting our school pictures taken & I honestly don't ever remember getting the package with an 8x10. It may have to do with the fact that my parents had 4 kids to buy pictures for. Although I think it had more to do with the fact that we weren't the family that had school pictures lining our walls.

Here in Alaska, at Grandma's house the walls are lined with 8x10 pictures of all 20 grandchildren. Now as the parent of 5 kids, and having to buy school picture packages I can relate to my parents...if it was the cost that prevented ordering the Big package. I certainly wasn't going to spend $50 per kid just to get Grandma the picture she wants for her wall.

So here they are pictures for Grandma's House.

This little guy gave me the baby fix I have been looking for! He's a sweet 3 month old. While doing the photo shoot he was showered with love from his mom, dad, grandma, aunt & uncle!

Harvest Festival

I was asked to do portraits at the Fall Harvest Festival this year. All the kids & pumpkins what could be more fun?? We'll after about an hour I had plenty of things on my list of things that would be more fun. The dentist, doing laundry were on the list, basically anything that could take place indoors was on my list. It was NASTY outside at the festival, luckily we were in a covered area, but the wind was blowing the rain sideways so it really didn't matter that we were under cover.
The pictures & kids were fun...weather was NOT!

Our Senior!

Here he is, our senior! Hard to believe he's working on his last year of high school. I still think of him as the 9 year old I met almost 9 years ago when I started dating his dad. I hate to think about what our lives will be like next year with him off to college. It's a toss up who will miss him most...I think there is a huge possibility it could be me, since he's so much like his dad!

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to do this photo shoot.
This mama to be is a dear friend of mine from early childhood.
On my wedding night there was a crowd of us talking about having children, at the time she & I were the only two that wanted to be pregnant.
Almost seven years later everyone’s prayers for her have been answered…she’s having twins in early January!
~S~ You have more than just the pregnancy glow, it’s true beauty. It was great to see you, I only wish I would be in town when the babies arrive! The rest of your pictures will be posted soon.

Family Fun

It’s well known that I love doing photo shoots; it is also well know that I love my kiddos. I had the opportunity to do what I love with the ones I love. We spent some time in the abandoned part of town among the old building that used to house one of the largest fish processing plants in Southeast Alaska. The result, a bunch of really great shots, it will be hard to choose just one for our Christmas card this year!
